Pine Hill Baptist Church Core Beliefs

We belive in the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message which can be found here. Our beliefs can be summarized below.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Bible

We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God, that the 66 books of the Old and New Testament were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written, and that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

JESUS CHRIST

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself. We believe in the absolute and essential deity of our Lord Jesus Christ:

  • In His eternal existence, with the Father in pre-incarnate glory
  • In His work of creation, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death and bodily resurrection
  • In His triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return

Mankind

We believe that human beings were created in the image of God but fell into sin and are therefore lost. Only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

THE FALL

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation. We believe Satan, by his own choice the enemy of God and His people, is the originator of sin, that led our mankind into sin and now rules as "the god of this world." We believe Satan was judged at the cross and that ultimately he will be cast into Hell.

SALVATION

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone. He died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate.
